About

Tancredi is an opera seria by Gioachino Rossini, first performed in Venice in 1813. The libretto draws on a tragedy by Voltaire and the Renaissance epic of Torquato Tasso. The title role of the knight Tancredi is traditionally sung by a mezzo-soprano. The opera is best known for the aria „Di tanti palpiti", which became one of the most widely hummed tunes of its era.
