About

The Cure are an English rock band formed in Crawley in 1976 by Robert Smith and Lol Tolhurst, who went on to define post-punk and gothic rock across five decades. Fronted throughout by Smith - the band's sole constant member - they built a catalogue stretching from the stark minimalism of Seventeen Seconds (1980) to the lush despair of Disintegration (1989) and the pop euphoria of Wish (1992). In 2019 they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and in 2024 they returned after a 16-year studio silence with Songs of a Lost World, which hit number one in the UK and earned a Grammy nomination.
