The Necks
Australian trio The Necks brings their hypnotic improvisational sound to Warsaw's Pardon, To Tu club.
The Necks are an Australian avant-garde jazz trio formed in Sydney in 1987, comprising Chris Abrahams (piano, Hammond organ), Tony Buck (drums, percussion) and Lloyd Swanton (bass guitar, double bass). Their music consists of single, long-form improvisations - typically 45 to 60 minutes each - built from minimal repeating figures that slowly shift in texture, density and intensity. With 20 studio albums to their name, two ARIA Award wins for Best Jazz Album, and a place on Rolling Stone Australia's list of the 50 Greatest Australian Artists of All Time, they have earned a devoted international following that spans jazz, ambient and experimental music.
The Necks released their 20th studio album, Disquiet, on 10 October 2025 - a triple-disc set of four pieces running over three hours, issued on Northern Spy.
The Necks undertook a European tour in autumn 2025, with dates in Nantes, London, Bristol, Birmingham, Aachen, Berlin, Warsaw and Prague, among other cities.
The Necks performed at the Jazz & Wine of Peace festival in Cormons, Italy, in October 2025.
The Necks released Bleed in October 2024, a single 42-minute composition described by bassist Lloyd Swanton as "the stillest album we've ever done."
The Necks announced an Australian tour for early 2026, with shows at Melbourne Recital Centre, Brisbane Powerhouse, The Street Theatre and Avoca Beach Theatre.
