About

The Ocean (also known as The Ocean Collective) is a German post-metal band founded in Berlin in 2001 by guitarist and songwriter Robin Staps. Their music weaves together post-metal, sludge and ambient textures around ambitious conceptual frameworks - earlier albums mapped geological eons and the history of philosophy, while 2023's Holocene closed out a decade-long paleontological series. The band has always operated as a fluid collective, and after a major lineup overhaul in 2024-2025, they return in 2026 with a rebuilt roster and a new album, Solaris.

The Ocean announced their twelfth studio album Solaris, due September 25, 2026 via Pelagic Records, and released the first single 'Light Pollution'.

The band revealed a completely rebuilt lineup featuring new vocalists Enrico Tiberi and Lane Shi, plus guitarists Emmanuel Jessua (Hypno5e) and Marco Gennaro.
