The Sisters of Mercy are an English gothic rock band formed in Leeds in 1980 by Andrew Eldritch and guitarist Gary Marx. Eldritch's deep baritone and the drum machine Doktor Avalanche have been the band's only constants across three studio albums - First and Last and Always (1985), Floodland (1987) and Vision Thing (1990) - which together defined the sound of gothic rock. Since the early 1990s the band has released no new recordings, yet continues to tour extensively and remains one of the most influential acts in post-punk history.
The Sisters of Mercy announced an extensive autumn 2026 European headlining tour spanning Greece, Turkey, the UK, Spain, France, Germany and beyond.
The band played two sold-out nights at the Camden Roundhouse in London as part of their 2025 'All Wires Red' European tour.
The Sisters of Mercy completed a 26-date North American tour titled 'Sisters Scar The Planet Edge', with support from Blaqk Audio, playing venues including Radio City Music Hall and The Greek in Los Angeles.
The band played a run of European club shows in early 2024, including a sold-out date in Antwerp, before heading to summer festivals across the continent.
After a 14-year absence from North American stages, the band returned to the US and Canada for a 19-date tour in 2023.
