The Sound of Music is a musical by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, which premiered on Broadway in 1959. It follows Maria, a young novice who becomes governess to the seven von Trapp children in pre-war Austria. Songs like „Do-Re-Mi" and „Edelweiss" have become standards, and the 1965 film adaptation starring Julie Andrews won five Academy Awards.
