About

Torfrock is a German rock band founded in 1977 by Klaus Büchner and Raymond Voß, rooted in the culture of Schleswig-Holstein. Their songs mix blues rock and folk with humorous Low German (Plattdeutsch) lyrics, revolving around the fictional village of Torfmoorholm and a comic-strip Viking named Rollo. The band reached national fame with "Beinhart", the title track of the 1990 Werner film, which hit #1 in the German singles charts - their singer Büchner also voices the Werner character in the movies. Nearly five decades on, Torfrock remain a live institution in northern Germany, celebrated for their annual "Bagaluten-Wiehnacht" Christmas tour.
