Týr is a folk and Viking metal band from the Faroe Islands, formed in 1998, whose music weaves traditional Faroese melodies and Norse mythology into heavy, progressive metal. Named after the Norse god of war, the band - led by vocalist and guitarist Heri Joensen - built a devoted international following across nine studio albums on Metal Blade Records.
