Zbigniew Wodecki (1950-2017) was a Polish singer, multi-instrumentalist, composer, actor and TV presenter, born in Kraków into a family of professional musicians. He played violin from the age of five, later adding trumpet and piano, and debuted as a vocalist at the National Festival of Polish Song in Opole in 1972. His melodic, instantly recognisable voice made him one of the defining pop figures of 1970s and 1980s Poland, and his songs have remained on radio playlists ever since. In 2015 he enjoyed a widely celebrated comeback with the Mitch & Mitch Orchestra, earning two Fryderyk Awards in 2016 and a posthumous Golden Fryderyk in 2018.
An EP titled 'PETITE POLOGNE' was released in 2026, the latest posthumous archival release under Wodecki's name.
Several archival singles were issued in 2025, including a French-language version of 'Lubię wracać tam gdzie byłem' and a solo version of 'Z Tobą chcę oglądać świat'.
An archival jazz album 'Wodecki Jazz '70 - dialogi', featuring recordings with Henryk Miśkiewicz, Leszek Możdżer and Marek Napiórkowski, was released posthumously.
The posthumous album 'Dobrze, że jesteś' was released on 23 May 2018, completed by his daughter Katarzyna Wodecka-Stubbs with guest vocalists including Kayah and Kuba Badach; it received a Fryderyk 2019 nomination in the Pop Album of the Year category.
Wodecki was posthumously awarded the Golden Fryderyk Award and the Commander's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta.
