The Gewandhaus zu Leipzig is one of the world's most renowned concert halls, home to the Gewandhausorchester, one of the oldest civic orchestras in the world. The current building, opened in 1981 on Augustusplatz, is the third to bear the name and seats over 1,900 in its Grand Hall. It hosts symphonic concerts, chamber music, and major classical events year-round.
