story VS: Augenblicke - With the Camera to the True Wonders of the World

For many years, filmmaker and photographer Dennis Schmelz has been travelling the world - searching for stories that move people and moments that last. His camera takes him to the most remote corners of the earth: from the ice deserts of Antarctica through the jungles of the Amazon to the Galungan festival in Bali.

In his live talk, held alongside the release of his National Geographic photo book Augenblicke, Dennis Schmelz guides the audience through the highlights of his work. He recounts how he overcame his fears in the notorious Drake Passage, how he experienced his first culture shock in India, and how he found a new perspective on life and death in Varanasi - as well as his search for happiness in Bhutan and encounters with people across the globe.

Accompanied by award-winning films and photographs, he offers a behind-the-scenes look at his work and speaks candidly about cold, loneliness and doubt - but also about the moments that keep driving him forward.
