Maximilian Hornung won the German Music Competition in 2005 and in 2007, as cellist of the Tecchler Trio, received first prize at the ARD Music Competition. At age 23, he became principal cellist of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, a position he held until 2013. As a chamber music partner, he performs with Anne-Sophie Mutter, Julia Fischer, Daniil Trifonov, and Yefim Bronfman. As a soloist, he has performed with the Berlin Philharmonic, London Philharmonic Orchestra, and others. He is equally at home in the Vienna Musikverein and London's Wigmore Hall, and performs at festivals in Salzburg, Ravinia, and Hong Kong.

His piano partner Herbert Schuch is well known to Kempen audiences - he most recently appeared here in April 2026 alongside Benjamin Appl, Franziska Hölscher, and Harriet Krijgh at the Paterskirche.

Concert introduction: Before the concert at 7:00 PM, there will be approximately 30 minutes of introduction with Thomas Weißschnur (Düsseldorf clarinetist and music moderator), who will host all 6 concerts of the 2026/2027 chamber music series.

Tickets: Individual tickets cost between 14 and 35 euros (including booking fee); individual ticket sales begin approximately 27 August 2026. Subscriptions for all 6 concerts are available from 11 July 2026 - Category A: 169 € (reduced 86 €), B: 130 € (reduced 67 €), C: 97 € (reduced 50 €), D: 68 € (reduced 35 €).
