Opening concert with Concierto Ibérico (quartet) - 40 years of Ronda Iberoamericana e. V.

Fandango was Spain's national dance in the 18th century - performed in theatres and dance academies as well as in taverns, on streets, and in the palaces of the upper classes. Accompanied by guitar and castanets, its basic figures were mastered by people of all social ranks.

Concierto Ibérico approaches this phenomenon of Spanish musical history with historically informed performance practice. The ensemble - baroque trombone, baroque recorders, Spanish guitars, theorbo, 16-foot harpsichord, and percussion - combines baroque dance forms, courtly compositional art, and folk energy in a dramaturgical arc.
