On Saturday, 26 September, Vitra Campus offers two guided tours of Japanese architecture - at 13:30 and 15:00. Both are conducted in German; the meeting point is at Vitra Design Museum.
The one-hour tour begins at VitraHaus and continues to Tane Garden House by Tsuyoshi Tane (2023), Umbrella House by Kazuo Shinohara (1961), the SANAA production hall (2012), and the conference pavilion by Tadao Ando (1993) - the first building Ando was able to realize outside Japan. Following the tour, a traditional Japanese tea ceremony takes place in the Ando pavilion, with introduction and demonstration on a classical tatami platform.
The price of 59 euros per person includes the guided tour with a Japanese guide, a one-hour introduction to the tea ceremony, a bowl of matcha, and a Japanese sweet. The event takes place in any weather.
