Royal Splendour - Concert for Three Baroque Trumpets, Organs and Timpani — Kloster Alpirsbach, Alpirsbach

"Royal Splendour"

Concert for three baroque trumpets, organs and timpani

Prof. Mark Bennett, Michael Pietsch-Rether, Benedikt Kilburg (baroque trumpets)
Tolga Anlar (timpani)
Sun Kim & Christian D. Karl (organs)

Timpani and trumpets were once the exclusive insignia of princes and kings - permitted to sound only in their presence. Bach drew on them to express God's royal dominion in music. Paired with the organ, the "queen of instruments", their brilliance is amplified still further.

Under the direction of English trumpet professor Mark Bennett, the programme features works by Bach, Handel and Telemann alongside improvisations - performed on historical baroque trumpets and the two organs of the monastery church.

Entry and seating are free; a donation is welcomed at the exit.

Note: the booking option is solely for reserving a small number of seats. If those are taken, all remaining seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The seats marked "left side aisle" face the organ sculpture in front of the Lady Altar.
