Alpirsbach, Germany
Kloster Alpirsbach is a well-preserved Benedictine monastery in the Black Forest town of Alpirsbach, founded around 1095. The Romanesque church and cloister rank among the finest examples of early medieval monastic architecture in southwest Germany. Today the complex hosts concerts, cultural events and guided tours, with the atmospheric vaulted spaces lending a distinctive character to musical performances.
The Südwestdeutsches Kammerorchester Pforzheim returns to Alpirsbach for its tenth visit, performing Beethoven's Violin Concerto and Mendelssohn's String Symphony No. 11. Prize-winning violinist Liv Migdal takes the solo role.
The Arcis Saxophon Quartett, one of the world's most active classical chamber ensembles, makes its debut at the Alpirsbacher Kreuzgangkonzerte with a programme built around Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier and newly commissioned preludes.
