"Impressionists Improvised" - New Sonic Colours for 150 Years of Impressionism

Munich-based pianist Chris Gall combines the sonic worlds of impressionism with the freedom of jazz in his solo programme. In his improvisations on works by Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel, and Erik Satie, he explores the harmonic and timbral affinities between both genres - moving between jazz, neo-classicism, and minimal music.

150 years after a small group of alternative artists in Paris first called themselves impressionists, Gall engages with this movement and carries it forward. His current album "Impressionists Improvised" builds on his earlier solo albums "Piano Solo" and "Room of Silence". Gall is best known for his work with the band Quadro Nuevo, with whom he tours worldwide and has won the German Jazz Award multiple times.
