When Quadro Nuevo takes the stage, a musical journey begins that crosses genre boundaries - poetic, virtuosic and full of warmth. With "Das Weihnachtskonzert", the award-winning ensemble turns its attention to the quieter, festive time of year, bringing its own distinctive take on Christmas music.

Childhood friends Mulo Francel and Didi Lowka founded Quadro Nuevo in 1996. Since then, these adventurous musicians have performed in countless places - from Helsinki to Hong Kong, from the Caucasus to Carnegie Hall in New York. Their bold, free-spirited playing has earned them two ECHO awards, a Gold Record, the Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik and several Jazz Awards.

Joined by the extravagant, playful accordionist Andreas Hinterseher and the endlessly inventive pianist Chris Gall, they live their music fully in the present. It calls to mind four young men making music on southern town squares and fairgrounds - which is exactly how Quadro Nuevo started out.

Familiar Alpine melodies, Mediterranean Christmas songs, original compositions and surprising musical discoveries blend into a programme of lightness, depth and wintry atmosphere. Tango, jazz, world music and delicate improvisations come together in a sound world that moves, slows you down and sparks the imagination.
