Knulps Abschied von Gerbersau

A reading with musical accompaniment based on Hermann Hesse's stories.

Even the freedom of a vagabond's life has its limits. The ageing and ailing Knulp finds a few days' rest with two old school friends - a pastor in Stammheim and a doctor in Bulach - before making his way to Gerbersau to bid farewell to his hometown. In conversations with the pastor, the doctor, and finally God himself, he looks back on his eventful life and asks himself, with honest self-reflection, whether it was well lived.
