One Message Is Enough - A Play About Cyberbullying (11+) - Premiere

In Germany, almost one in five young people has experienced cyberbullying. This play shows what that looks like: a wrong photo in the class chat, anonymous hate messages via WhatsApp, the constant dread of your own smartphone. Threatened teenagers, nasty internet trolls and platforms hunting for new victims collide with solidarity and the will to find solutions - told through a mix of personal experiences and absurd, invented stories.

Instead of a wagging moral finger, the stage is ruled by quirky props and ironic meta-layers. A recurring character is the personified "Safespace": armed with a blanket and slippers, he fights cyber-trolls by eating printed hate messages, folding paper planes into boats, and drying bitter tears with a confetti shower. A multi-voiced chorus comments on the action - sometimes biting, sometimes shrill - and noisily celebrates successful rescue missions with carnival horns.
