Summer Concert with BigBand17 - A Summer Evening in the Courtyard

BigBand17 performs music from the repertoire of the great big bands of the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s. It is the sound of elegant suits and slim ties: swinging big band jazz - danceable, hip, and entertaining all at once.

BigBand17 nurtures this wonderful tradition so that this sound is not heard merely as a soundtrack to a distant past, but as what it truly is: pulsing joy of life - live, handmade, and powerful. The music combines good musical taste with the vitality of a live performance in classic big band style.

BigBand17 has existed since 2017 and is based in the Rhine-Neckar region between Mannheim, Heidelberg, and Ludwigshafen. The ambitious programme draws from the repertoire of big bands led by Francy Boland and Kenny Clarke, Bill Holman, Mel Lewis and Thad Jones, Peter Herbolzheimer, and many others. Since 2019, BigBand17 has been musically guided by Professor Stephan Zimmermann.
