Prof. Emmanuel Hocdé, first-prize winner of the Grand Prix de Chartres, performs two concerts at Dom St. Blasien on Tuesday, 11 August (at 17:15 and 20:15).

The programme opens with Bach's virtuosic Prelude and Fugue in D major, followed by a sequence of Romantic organ music: César Franck's Prélude, Fugue et Variation, Alexandre-Pierre-François Boëly's Fantasia and Fugue in B-flat major, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy's Sonata No. 3, and two movements from Auguste Fauchard's Organ Symphony No. 1.

The evening closes with Jehan Alain's Variations on a Theme by Clément Jannequin and Louis Vierne's brilliant Toccata.

About the venue: Dom St. Blasien

Dom St. Blasien is an 18th-century domed basilica in the southern Black Forest, built between 1768 and 1783 to designs by the French architect Michel d'Ixnard. Its rotunda, modelled on the Pantheon in Rome, is one of the largest church domes in Central Europe. Today the cathedral serves as the church of a Jesuit college and regularly hosts classical concerts and major ecclesiastical events.
