Heimsuchung - Abiturtheater

"Heimsuchung" was the novel that brought Jenny Erpenbeck her international breakthrough. Partly autobiographical, it tells the story of a house on a Brandenburg lake across several generations - from 1906 to 2002, spanning the Weimar Republic, National Socialism, the building of the GDR, and German reunification.

At its heart are individual people who, in their respective eras, come to this plot of land in search of a home. Each story follows a different fate, each character carrying a private worldview shaped and scarred by the social pressures of their time.

The Abiturtheater of Stadthalle Olpe brings this multi-voiced, literary engagement with German history to the stage.
