THE BATES by THE PSYCHO JUNIORS

1987, no man's land at the inner German border: the Wall is still standing, the fence too, the East German border and the Cold War just a stone's throw away. In Eschwege, Hesse, The Bates are formed - arguably the most underrated punk rock band in the country, fronted by Zimbl, a charismatic singer with a voice like no other.

In 1993 the album "Unfucked - Live" is released, recorded in part at the OUTPOST - the predecessor venue to Pitcher. On it, The Bates turn the already legendary Fehlfarben song "Paul ist tot" into a monument of German music history. Equally unforgettable: their set at the Taubertal Festival in 1998, where Zimbl in a torn Schiesser undershirt and boxer shorts commanded more stage presence than the entire Hamburg School put together.

2001: the band splits up. In June 2006, Zimbl leaves us for good - yet somehow he's still here. THE PSYCHO JUNIORS want their passion for The Bates to ensure that the songs that accompanied so many of us for so long are not forgotten.
