Dr. Hemmpel (Götz Valter) is a psychiatrist with a rather unorthodox idea: he moves his practice into his own flat. Things go surprisingly smoothly - until the stern president of the psychiatric board, Dr. Riat Krautfeier (Uwe Naumann), shows up for an inspection.

From that point on, chaos takes over: the eccentric patient Volker von Alzey (Boris Stijelja), a young woman of somewhat unfortunate appearance (Marion Stress), and an Italian pizza baker who turns up out of nowhere (René Weintz) ensure that lies pile up, identities get swapped, and confusion is pushed to its absolute limit.
