The women's vocal ensemble Luminosa visits Dom St. Blasien on Saturday, 15 August 2025, at 17:00 with its a cappella programme "Lumina Caeli" - "Lights of Heaven". The programme moves from the northern lights and the vast space between sky and earth to praise and thanksgiving, featuring works by Ola Gjeilo, Maurice Duruflé, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Robert Schumann, Javier Busto and other composers.

Luminosa was founded in 2023 and in 2024 won the 14th A-Cappella-Wettbewerb in Leipzig, including the special prize for the best unamplified piece; the ensemble was also recognised at the Fanny Mendelssohn Competition 2024. Its singers hold scholarships from the city of Munich and the Mozarteum Salzburg.

In 2026, debuts in Berlin, Paris, at Bachfest Leipzig and the Merano Festival are on the horizon.

About the venue: Dom St. Blasien

Dom St. Blasien is an 18th-century domed basilica in the southern Black Forest, built between 1768 and 1783 to designs by the French architect Michel d'Ixnard. Its rotunda, modelled on the Pantheon in Rome, is one of the largest church domes in Central Europe. Today the cathedral serves as the church of a Jesuit college and regularly hosts classical concerts and major ecclesiastical events.
