Jowee Omicil is an improviser, musician, educator, mentor, producer and composer - in Canada he is regarded as one of the most influential artists of his generation. Raised in Montreal as the son of Haitian immigrants, he first encountered music in his father's church, where he recorded hymns and gospel. At 15, he took up the alto saxophone.

Inspired by spiritual traditions, urban music and pop culture, he plays saxophones, clarinets, trumpets, Rhodes and whatever the moment demands - alive, raw, without stylistic boundaries.

With "Living Being IV: Time Reflections", Vincent Peirani presents his quintet: Tony Paeleman (piano, Rhodes), Emile Parisien (soprano saxophone), Julien Herné (bass) and Yoann Serra (drums). On the accordion, Peirani blends contemporary rhythms with echoes of traditional dances - and in doing so finds an unexpected place for Baroque music. The intertextual references reflect the diversity that has always characterized his work.
