Moritz Weiß & Styrian Klezmore Pocket Band

The Styrian Klezmore Pocket Band is a carefully assembled lineup of the Styrian Klezmore Orchestra, led by clarinetist and bandleader Moritz Weiß - compact yet as powerful and versatile as the full ensemble.

The repertoire spans klezmer, Yiddish, and Eastern and Southeastern European music: traditional melodies meet new compositions, jazzy improvisations blend with rhapsodic passion. Depending on the piece, the ensemble sounds like a Central European chamber orchestra, a boisterous street band, an energetic wedding ensemble, or a melancholic funeral procession.

The Pocket Band performs on stages and festivals across Europe, and as a street act has celebrated direct encounters with audiences in pedestrian zones throughout Croatia, Austria, and Germany. At its heart lies a transcultural dialogue that respects cultural roots while claiming artistic freedom - Klezmer & More, or Klezmore.
