Kikeriki Theater - "Siegfried's Nibelungenentzündung"

"Siegfried's Nibelungenentzündung" tells the life and death of the fair-haired hero Siegfried of Xanten as a medieval fool's spectacle. The source material is the Nibelungenlied - a heroic epic compiled around 1200 AD from various legends, padded out with half-truths and "Teutonic" wishful thinking.

The puppets are shamelessly cobbled together from old kitchen appliances, tin cans, bicycle parts, and assorted junk. Wielded on long poles like halberds, they comment on the saga's pseudo-heroic content in their own wry, ironic way.
