Choral Symphonic Concert of the Magdeburg Cathedral Choir - Mozart's C Minor Mass
Magdeburger Dom, Germany
Magdeburg Cathedral Choir & Magdeburg Philharmonic
Soloists & Cathedral Cantor Christian Otto
Mozart's C Minor Mass was composed in 1782 and ranks among his most significant works - though it remained incomplete. Mozart combines an extraordinary stylistic breadth: echoes of Bach and Handel meet operatic solo passages and large-scale choral works that draw on Baroque traditions while unfolding a festive, expansive setting of the liturgy.
The power of the work lies in the interplay between impressive choruses, meditative orchestral passages, and expressive solo pieces. Despite its incompleteness, the Mass has achieved a musical stature that places it alongside Bach's B Minor Mass or Beethoven's great works.
