Twenty years ago, the history of theater am puls began with "The Scent of the Chestnut." Opening the anniversary with this piece is not a look back - it is an invitation to explore a question that concerns us all: what does freedom mean?
Beneath a blooming chestnut tree, a married family man and a blind woman meet. Between them unfolds a quiet, poetic love story that forces both to make a decision whose consequences will echo throughout their lives. Decades later, the man returns to this place and realizes that some memories never fade.
Accompanied by piano, cello and flute, "The Scent of the Chestnut" tells of love, longing and the choices that make us who we are - a chamber musical about whether true freedom lies in leaving or in staying.
