Scarlatti Offroad - A Pianistic Dialogue on Two Concert Grand Pianos with Michael Wollny and Christoph Ullrich
Konzerthaus Liebfrauen Wernigerode, Germany
25 €
A concert marking the completion of the complete recording of all 555 sonatas by Domenico Scarlatti (1685-1757)
Since 2011, Christoph Ullrich has been recording all 555 sonatas by Domenico Scarlatti on a modern Steinway - from 2022 to 2026, the final six of a total of 17 double CDs are being created at the Liebfrauen Concert Hall in Wernigerode. The remaining 12 sonatas will be recorded from October 5-7.
Attila Csampai writes about the recording: "...an almost overflowing arsenal of bubbling wit and profound fantasy, whose enigmatic logic Ullrich shapes with razor-sharp precision. Thus these largely unknown pieces are revealed as historical treasures."
Michael Wollny responds with his own improvisations: both pianists engage in a dialogue across the centuries at two concert grand pianos.
"Music expresses that which cannot be said and about which it is impossible to be silent." - Victor Hugo
