BYTE Theatre (BackYard Theatre Ensemble) from Melbourne returns to Bostelwiebeck on Saturday, 10 October 2026 at 19:30 with two new plays in English.

"Before She Knew Me" is a solo piece: a woman recalls her mother, her family, love and jealousy, growing up. But memory is not a neutral thing. What really happened? What did we tell ourselves - and what did we know about ourselves before life shaped us?

"Martha and Me" tells the story of two young women who find each other - at a time when that can be dangerous. The play asks what friendship means when everything is at stake, and weaves song with German poetry by Wedekind, Büchner and Bruckner.

Both plays had their world premieres in Australia and have been on international tour ever since. Written and performed by: Joachim Matschoss, Krystal Hollis and Georgina McKay.
