Dramaturgy of Life - Symphony of Contrasts: Mephisto Waltz and La Valse

The piano programme "Dramaturgy of Life - Symphony of Contrasts" juxtaposes works centred on dance and the waltz - from romantic elegance to demonic power.

The first part features Carl Maria von Weber's "Invitation to the Dance" J. 260, two études by Frédéric Chopin (op. 25, nos. 12 and 1), Enrique Granados' "Poetic Waltzes" (eight movements from Molto vivace to Presto), and two preludes from Sergey Rachmaninoff's op. 23 (no. 5 in G minor and no. 2 in B-flat major).

After the interval come Claude Debussy's "Romantic Waltz", Franz Liszt's "Mephisto Waltz No. 1" S. 514, and Rubén Russo's "Golden Dragonfly" - the programme concludes with Maurice Ravel's "La Valse".
