"Im Leuchtturm durch die Zeit" (Through Time in the Lighthouse) - based on true events

Hamburg, today, the attic of an old house. A suitcase, a bundle of dusty letters from long ago - rays of light from an era half-lost in the shadows of memory. From Hiddensee, Roter Sand, Hamburg, New York, Bornholm.

Johannes Kirchberg's new programme revolves around lighthouses, their keepers, history and stories, disasters and secrets. Together with a lighthouse keeper, the audience travels back in time - from lighthouse to lighthouse.

"...my beloved heart, I stand on the lighthouse of the enchanted island. I now know how birds feel, yet I have no wings. My wings are flickering light, but they cannot carry me to you. So I send these lines from a lovestruck, lonely lighthouse keeper..."
