Edgar Selge's debut Have You Finally Found Us was praised by the SZ with the words: "One cannot write better than this". The acting icon does not rest on his laurels: With the novel Jura's Last Winter (Rowohlt 2026), Selge erects a monument to young Jura Ryabinkin - a person who starved to death during the Siege of Leningrad by the German Wehrmacht.
In the book, the narrator repeatedly reads Jura's surviving diary, and an exchange unfolds about youth, dreams, literature, mother, violence, otherness and closeness - interwoven with the darkest years of German history and his own.
Ulrich Kühn (NDR Kultur) interviews Edgar Selge about this novel, which opens this year's Literature Autumn.
