Open Air Cinema - Juan Salvador Penguin

The drama is based on a true story: British teacher Tom Michell (Steve Coogan) takes up a post in Argentina in 1976. While walking on a beach in Uruguay, he finds an abandoned penguin, rescues it and simply takes it home. He names him Juan Salvador - and although pets are strictly forbidden at his school, the penguin gradually wins over pupils and staff alike.

The unlikely friendship changes Tom's life and teaches him a great deal about himself and about living in a foreign culture. Director Peter Cattaneo stays close to the source book, blending gentle British humour with quiet drama and nature photography. CGI was deliberately avoided - Juan Salvador is played by real animals.
