Four Times Good - Classical Music on Request - A Duet

On 17 October 2026, NDR Kultur presenters Hans-Jürgen Mende and Philipp Schmid perform a benefit concert at Opernloft im Alten Fährterminal Altona. The programme combines poems and stories with music - music chosen by the audience.

Philipp Schmid, winner of the German Radio Prize for best presenter and self-proclaimed "world champion of bar pianists", fulfils almost any request at the grand piano: from "Atemlos" through "Eine kleine Nachtmusik" to "White Christmas". Hans-Jürgen Mende, awarded the "Speech Prize 2019" in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, recites poems and stories - from cheerful to melancholic, collected from his NDR Kultur programme "Classical Music on Request".

The evening is a benefit concert in support of the traditional ship FORTUNA.
