Description was written before the event

From the series "LITERATURCAFÉ IM PALAIS"

Katia Mann, Helene Weigel and Marta Feuchtwanger
The women behind the great writers

With: Ildiko Bognar and Carl Martin Spengler
Text: Ildiko Bognar

Duration: approx. 1 hr 30 min. (no interval) - doors open 30 minutes before the start.

Katia Mann was Thomas Mann's manager, secretary, confidante and muse - she kept his life running smoothly, handling everything from household affairs to finances. Helene Weigel was Bertolt Brecht's indispensable artistic partner; in 1949 she co-founded the Berliner Ensemble with him and, after his death, led it as director to international renown. Lion Feuchtwanger published nothing without the approval of his wife Marta, who became his most important editor and critic.

In keeping with the year's theme "The Power of Women", the event takes a literary look at three women who profoundly shaped their husbands' work and - directly or indirectly - made literary history themselves.
