Helmut Lörscher Trio: Triosonate - Chamber Jazz Explorations

The Helmut Lörscher Trio - featuring Bernd Heitzler (bass) and Matthias Daneck (drums) - presents its current programme "Triosonate - Chamber Jazz Explorations" under the title "Jazz in Martinskirche". Helmut Lörscher, a pianist and university professor based in Müllheim, is known for his chamber jazz that weaves elements of classical music into a jazz idiom.

The centrepiece of the evening is Sonata à tre: a composition for jazz trio in classical three-part sonata form, combining fully composed passages with space for free improvisation. It is complemented by further original compositions and arrangements that explore the interplay between jazz, classical tradition, and contemporary music in various ways.

To close the evening, Helmut Lörscher performs his now customary solo encore: a free improvisation on a theme spontaneously suggested by the audience.
