Chanson Evening "Und gegenüber? Ich."
Haus des Gastes Waren (Müritz), Germany
"I don't believe in heroes, I believe in people who love."
Jacques Brel (1929-1978) - the French chansonnier who was actually Belgian - explored life's great dramas in three-minute chansons, sung with an intensity that is hard to match. He never judged. He watched: people who love, who fail, who dream - the comic and the tragic that accompany us every day.
Julian Bender (vocals) and Gerhard A. Schiewe (accordion) follow these gazes and bring Brel's characters back to life - the dreamer, the mocker, the one who understands too late. Voice and accordion shape an evening that moves between tenderness and anger, between melancholy and new beginnings.
Gerhard A. Schiewe studied at the Hohner-Konservatorium in Trossingen and has lived in Berlin since 2000 as a freelance musician, arranger and composer. He works with various ensembles, including the Staatsoper Berlin and the Berliner Ensemble, as well as with Suzanna and other international artists on tango projects. Julian Bender completed his musical theatre studies in Munich in 2017 and has since worked as a dancer, singer, actor and choreographer. His engagements have taken him to the Staatsoper Nürnberg, Staatsoper Hannover, Komische Oper Berlin, Residenztheater München and Theater am Kurfürstendamm.
