Shortlist German Book Prize 2026

Authors on the shortlist present their works at Urania Berlin.

The German Book Prize is awarded annually by the Foundation for Book Culture and Reading Promotion of the German Booksellers Association at the opening of the Frankfurt Book Fair and honours the best German-language novel of the year. In 2026, 180 novels from 106 publishers in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland are competing.

On 8 September, the seven-member jury will announce the shortlist - all information about the six finalists and the programme will be published here.
