JASMINE MYRA

Saxophonist, composer and bandleader Jasmine Myra is among the rising stars of British jazz. Raised in the music scene of Leeds, where she studied at the conservatory, she later surrounded herself in London with some of the city's finest young talents.

Her instrumental music is euphoric and sublime, warm and soulful, without sounding sentimental. Her musical influences include Kenny Wheeler, Bonobo, Ólafur Arnalds and Moses Sumney - artists whose work shares an emotional depth that resonates in Myra's music too. Her debut album Horizons (2022) and its successor Rising (2024) were both released on Gondwana Records, where label head Matthew Hallsall recognised her talent early on.

With her third album Where Light Settles, Jasmine Myra enters a new phase of her work. The pieces clearly bear the mark of her affinity for film music: "My music is quite cinematic because I've always loved listening to soundtracks - how emotional they are, how music puts us in a certain mood." She describes the album itself this way: "I try to explain music like a temperature or a season. This album is autumnal."
