Two Eggs in a Glass, Please! - In the Romanisches Café of the Golden Twenties

The audience takes seats in the midst of the action: at the tables of the legendary Romanisches Café, that artist's café on the Ku'damm in Berlin's golden twenties. Here people argue, write, love and dream. Musicians, writers and artists struggle for ideas, fame and the right line at the right moment.

Together with the spectators, one single day unfolds - a day full of freedom and wildness, but also poverty and inner conflict at the height of the Weimar Republic, which is already beginning to crumble. Outside, just a few steps away, street battles between the NSDAP and KPD herald the end. Inside, something new emerges: the rise of a young talent in the firmament of poets, from nobody to somebody.

The Herxheim theatre transforms completely: where the stage usually is, the café spreads out. The audience sits between the tables while the waiters whirl through the room - and remember. That one day when everything seemed possible.
