Food for Thoughts - The Guest Banquet in September

An evening where the international and German-speaking autumn guests of Literarisches Colloquium Berlin introduce themselves to the audience.

Indian writer Banu Mushtaq was awarded the International Booker Prize 2025 for her story collection "Meistens bleibt ja die Frau zu Hause" (translated by Katrin Binder, Kjona, 2026). Mexican author, civil rights activist and podcaster Dahlia de la Cerda presents the novel "Reservoir Bitches" (translated by Johanna Malcher, Culturbooks, 2025), exploring the darker sides of Mexico. Annegret Liepold tells in her novel debut "Unter Grund" (Blessing, 2025) about structures of right-wing violence in rural western Germany.

Leipzig-based author Hugo Tepest published the essay collection "Sind Penisse real?" (Piper, 2025) following his novel "Schreib den Namen deiner Mutter" (Piper, 2024) - a text about fears and power, cultural history and sexuality, size and fantasies. Also from Leipzig, Marit Heuß presents her poetry collection "Verschlissenes Idyll" (poetenladen, 2025), about which Jan Kuhlbrodt wrote: "And behind the melancholy lurks insight. This ambivalence carries the poems".
