The 1970s as backdrop: bell-bottoms, platform shoes, garish patterns - and a decade full of hotly debated issues between "Schoolgirl Report" at the cinema and feminism on the streets, the oil crisis and the emerging environmental movement, Willy Brandt's Ostpolitik and the Vietnam War.

1978, the disco "Copacabana": Alicia celebrates her bachelorette party. With her best friend Bettina, she wants to have one last wild night before marrying Tom. That evening, a competition for the title "Disco Queen" is also being held - and the bride absolutely wants to take part. When Alicia meets the dazzling Kim and flirts with him, doubts suddenly arise. Bettina sounds the alarm, and bartender Fred has his hands full playing fate.
