I Want to Go Back in Time - Judith Hermann

Reading and conversation with Judith Hermann, moderated by Helmut Böttiger.

In her new book "I Want to Go Back in Time," Judith Hermann traces the footsteps of her grandfather, who served in the SS in the Polish town of Radom during World War II. She weaves her writing with a long-denied family history, travels from Poland to her sister in Naples, and explores how subsequent generations remember and forget. In half-tones and unspoken implications, the repressed emerges - the gaps in our society, but also the question of how fragile our own lives are and what beauty might be hidden within them.

Judith Hermann was born in 1970 in Berlin. Her debut "Sommerhaus, später" (1998) brought her international recognition; she has since published further collections of stories and novels, some of which have been adapted for film.
