MIR — Societaetstheater, Dresden
Description was written before the event

Against the backdrop of the 1920s and 1930s, performer Kornelija Aleksaitė embodies both main characters and their demons. A young cabaret dancer who, despite her ordered daily life, is caught up in the political reality of her time - and a politician increasingly approaching power. The starting point of this solo is the observation that human behavioral patterns and social mechanisms repeat themselves, and a response to the fatalism of the sentence: "What is interesting about history is that it seemingly teaches us nothing." (R. Crowe).

Kornelija Aleksaitė was born in 2005 in Germany, Frédéric Coupet in 1965 in France. Their different relationship to the past and present centuries shaped their collaborative work. An insight from this: while youth compels hope, advanced age leads to pessimism.

Kornelija Aleksaitė completed her studies at Palucca Hochschule für Tanz in Dresden in 2024 and works as a freelance dancer. Frédéric Coupet is a freelance visual artist and Physical Theatre instructor. Both live in Germany.
