Drawing on the myth of katabasis - the descent into the underworld - director Ugo Arsac's interactive audiovisual project explores the labyrinth of New York's subway system: the hidden, invisible layers and spaces of the city. "Katábasis" gives voice to those who live in these spaces, work through their tunnels, or inhabit their corners - their stories collide in unexpected places and paint a multifaceted portrait of the metropolis amid a polarized American society.

Audiences can explore the project via VR headset, with the format enabling both individual experience and collective journey. "Katábasis" was awarded the Golden Palm for best immersive work at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival.
