Born in Munich in 1969, this krautrock collective has spent over five decades crossing continents - recording with musicians from Kabul to Lagos - and performing sets that are never quite the same twice. Now steered by Marja Burchard, the band continues to blur the line between jazz, world music, and free improvisation.

Embryo released 'Meets The World' on February 7, 2025 via Sonorama Records - a compilation of previously unreleased ethno-jazz recordings from 1979/80, restored from original tapes and featuring sessions with the Kabul Radio Orchestra and musicians from Eritrea, Syria, and Iraq.

Embryo performed at Import Export in Munich in June 2026, one of their most recent documented live dates.
